Finding work-life balance can be elusive, but we’ve learned that the key is loving what you do and having fun along the way. With this in mind, we packed our bags and left Barcelona for a long weekend in the Pyrenees to Field Test and photograph our Fall/Winter outerwear collection.
We set out on a gray, rainy morning in Barcelona, with our friend Isma as the centerpiece of the shoot—or maybe it was his tricked-out Volvo that stole the show. Either way, the car became our trusted companion. With its ocean-blue interior and timeless design, the Volvo felt like a sanctuary on wheels— a testament to enduring craftsmanship. We packed it to the brim with gear, supplies, and Isma’s shiny new Orbea, then hit the road, eager for a break from the city.
Tucked between France and Spain, La Cerdanya is a breathtaking region of the Pyrenees, perfect for outdoor adventures in every season. Winters brings fresh powder on the slopes, summers lure cyclists to its roads and trails, and the trout filled Segre River invites fisherman year-round. Beyond its natural beauty, the area holds a rich history, from Neolithic cave paintings to the remnants of Roman and Moorish architecture.
When planning an outerwear photoshoot, you secretly wish for the harshest weather—rain, sleet, snow, and everything in between. Mother Nature delivered. By the time we arrived at our cabin, tucked at the foot of the slopes, the peaks were blanketed in snow, with rain creeping into the lower elevations. Thick fog rolled in, cloaking the landscape and setting the perfect stage for our shoot.
The cabin itself, with its modern take on Scandinavian mid-century design, was a warm haven and the perfect counterpoint to the cold conditions outside. That evening, we settled by the fire, planning the next day’s shoot in the French side of La Cerdanya, where autumn’s vivid colors, tranquil lakes, and majestic vistas awaited.
After a productive day of shooting in the high country, we turned our focus to one of La Cerdanya’s culinary treasures: bolets. These wild mushrooms are highly prized in Catalan and French cuisine, and foraging them requires patience, skill, and a trained eye. Wandering through the forest, we carefully gathered these edible gems—a small but deeply satisfying reward for our efforts.
Back at the cabin, the bolets became the star of a home-cooked feast. They joined a spread of regional dishes that perfectly blended the rustic simplicity of Catalan and French flavors. The meal was more than just nourishment—it was a celebration of La Cerdanya’s culinary heritage, the camaraderie of the trip, and the pure joy of being immersed in nature while doing work we love.
