MW x ASP
Research & Development
Introducing the MW X ASP collaboration; a harmonious commingling of design, character and sensibilities. A fully aligned combination of Mission Workshop's technical expertise and clean silhouettes with the playful attitude and expressive spirit of Afterschool Projects.
At the heart of this collaboration was a question: Can we tie-dye tech fabrics? What better way to initiate a project than by going boldly and joyfully into the unknown?
Through persistence and experimentation, we discovered a unique process that allowed us to tie-dye the iconic X-Pac® fabric from Dimension Polyant. The result being three unique camouflage inspired dyes; Inyo, Mojave, and Hippie, that bring a bit of psychedelic joy to our functional aesthetic.
Making this project possible was the world's first waterproof cotton duck by Dimension Polyant. The X10 fabric combines natural cotton duck with their iconic X-Ply™ and a waterproof film backing to create a fabric with a soft hand and the tech to keep your gear clean and dry.
We were so excited about our success in dyeing the fabric that we poured our enthusiasm into creating a collection that synergized this tie-dyed energy.
The nexus of this collaboration is a backpack called the Speedwell that deftly combines DNA from both the ASP Rucksack and MW Hauser with new design features to create the next iteration of functional and aesthetic pack design. To compliment the new pack this collection also includes matching small accessory bags called Sacoches, ASP's utility shorts made from our Mission Jean fabric, unique tie-dyed t-shirts and two limited edition water bottles that fit perfectly in the Speedwell.
A collection we are proud to launch where technical savvy and transcendental vibrations can coincide.
